At Love’s, we are accustomed to extending generosity and hospitality to others, but employees of Love’s Hospitality’s Fairfield Inn & Suites in Van, Texas, were recently on the receiving end of that thanks. The Van Area Chamber of Commerce recently named the hotel New Business of the Year at its annual banquet (check out the full story in the Van Zandt News). The honor goes to a business that has a significant impact on the community through work, volunteering and charitable activities.

“We were ecstatic!” said Samantha Owens, general manager for Fairfield Inn & Suites in Van. “Heather (Trammell) and I went to the banquet and had no idea. When they called out Fairfield Inn & Suites, we were so proud.”

Owens and Trammell, front desk supervisor for the hotel that opened in May 2017, helped the chamber of commerce staff decorate and set up for the banquet, all the while not knowing they were about to be honored. Chamber of commerce officials say that’s the kind of spirit for which the business was awarded.

The Business of the Year nomination form states: “They have been present in the community by donating rooms, special treats and discount cards for the Texas Rose Horse Park contestants in December, and for other community events and fundraisers. They were instrumental in providing the idea, the food and venue for the first Business After Hours with two donations for door prizes.”

“She (Owens) is something special,” said Pat Valentine, secretary for the Van Area Chamber of Commerce. “Not every new business that starts in Van gets involved immediately in community action. We really appreciate all the Fairfield Inn & Suites has done to support the community.”

Owens said they value their community and the community appreciates their efforts to encourage people to shop and dine local. Owens praised her entire team and said they are honored to play a role in Van’s growth.

“The team at the hotel works great together,” said Owens. “We just had eight associates hit their one-year anniversary with the Fairfield Inn. When everyone works together you can accomplish anything!”
