Valued mechanical support employee plays big role in supporting Love's Truck Care and Speedco teams

The nationwide network of Love’s Truck Care and Speedco locations wouldn’t be successful without multiple support teams. They may not interact with professional drivers on a daily basis like technicians and mechanics, but these hard workers behind the scenes play undeniably important roles in our best-in-class operation.

One of these teams is mechanical support, where Rustin W. has worked for the past four years at Love’s headquarters in Oklahoma City. These days, a lot of his time is spent helping get shop teams up to speed on warranty work, including Freightliner ExpressPoint and International.

“My favorite part of my job is knowing we’re helping our shops run as smoothly as possible,” Rustin said. “If any shop team members have questions about warranties, we’re the ones with the knowledge to help them out.”

Love's mechanical support employee Rustin

Rustin is proud to be a “pioneer” of his department; he joined Love’s just as the mechanical support team was formed to serve the fast-growing network of Love’s Truck Care and Speedco locations. In the years since he’s been an invaluable training resource, helping multiple members of his team get up to speed on processes and expectations.

A former movie theater manager, organizational restructuring put Rustin’s future at the multiplex chain in doubt. His friend, Gerald M., who also works at Love’s corporate offices, convinced Rustin to apply to Love’s.

The biggest piece of advice Rustin would give anyone joining Love’s is the very same advice Gerald said during a conversation that changed the course of Rustin’s career.

“This is a big company, but it’s also a place full of people who care. As long as you have the work ethic and drive to learn, there will be opportunities for you here,” Rustin said.
