Love’s Travel Stops opens its first fast-fill CNG location in Georgia
OKLAHOMA CITY, May 4, 2015 – An agreement between Werner Enterprises and Love’s Travel Stops (Love’s) leads to Love’s first compressed natural gas (CNG) location in Georgia. The existing travel stop in Thomson is now dispensing Love’s Fast-Fill CNG for heavy-duty trucks and a CNG fueling option for passenger vehicles. According to the U.S. Department of Energy Alternative Fuels Data Center, this is the second CNG facility in the Greater Augusta area and the first in Thomson.
"Customers in east Georgia, including Werner, are asking for more CNG locations and we’re happy to meet that need," said Bill Cashmareck, general manager of natural gas for Love’s. "Thomson is an ideal location because Interstate 20 is a major east-west route. This location will serve residents, fleets and leisure travelers who need a convenient place to fill."
Werner, which operates more than 7,100 trucks and is one of the five largest truckload carriers in the nation, has taken steps to improve its sustainability. The transport company planned to purchase eight CNG trucks specifically for the Thomson area, but they lacked a reliable place to fill.
"We needed a convenient location where our drivers could have access to other necessities," said Steve Phillips, senior vice president of fleet resources for Werner Enterprises. "Love’s has been a great business partner so we reached out to them. The opening of this new location and others allows us to continue to invest in domestically-produced energy, which is important to us and our customers."
With Love’s Travel Stops located on interstates and highways, drivers have easy access to CNG adjacent to stores with all the amenities necessary to support their needs such as quick-service restaurants, showers, name-brand snacks and more. Love’s Fast-Fill CNG is available in-lane along with diesel and diesel exhaust fuel (DEF). Drivers can fill a 100-gallon equivalent tank in 10 minutes or less. Drivers can also earn My Love Reward points when purchasing CNG.
