Fundraising For CMNH With Ice Cream
Any excuse to eat a yummy Blizzard from Dairy Queen is a good one, and Love's Customers in Ruther Glen, Virginia, and Ellis, Kansas, were able to indulge their sweet tooth Thursday for a great cause: Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
Love's 435 and 455 participated in Miracle Treat Day, an annual event from DQ where a portion of Blizzard sales is donated to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals across the United States and Canada. DQ has been hosting the event for more than a decade now, and Love's wanted to get involved.
"We had some storms roll through Virginia yesterday, but we had Customers stop by excited to participate in Miracle Treat Day," said Love's 435 Restaurant Manager Butch Michalick.
Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores has a big fundraising campaign of its own annually. This year's campaign gets started August 26 and lasts through September 30. Michalick said his store gets excited about raising money for the kids who benefit from the great work done by Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
"Everybody gets into it here. Most of my staff has been here 5 to 10 years, and it's something we all look forward to," Michalick said.
However, the enthusiasm from Michalick is also personal. More than a decade ago, his son benefited from treatment at Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU.
"We're in a rural county, and when my son was 2 years old, he got sick and we didn't know what it was. We ended up taking him to the Children's Miracle Network hospital in Richmond, and they diagnosed him as having pneumonia," Michalick said.
Kassy Collins, restaurant manager at Love's 455 in Ellis, Kansas, said her team was excited to make those Blizzards on Miracle Treat Day. A dollar from each Blizzard sale goes to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
Love's fundraising campaign for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals is coming up very soon. Be sure and visit our blog often and like us on Facebook to find out about special events in your area between August 26 and September 30.
